Job summary

Derbyshire County Council is seeking a HLTA to support pupil development across the curriculum, with a fixed-term contract from September 2026 to December 2026 and potential extension. Job description

Closing date: 02 September 2026

As a HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of pupils. The position will initially be fixed term from September 2026 to December 2026, with the intention of extending beyond this. A job description and personal specification outlines the scope of the role. We require someone who enjoys working with children and is committed to supporting inclusion. The successful candidate must have a positive outlook, good communication and organisational skills and the ability to work on their own and as part of a team.

The role will involve working with closely with staff, families, SENCO, SLT and external partners. It is essential that the candidate has a secure knowledge of children's learning and development. The role will be PPA cover for staff and will involve planning, delivering and assessing different subjects across the curriculum.

The position may be based across school and is subject to change as the needs of the children evolve.
