Main Duties and Responsibilities

This role is an exciting opportunity to provide excellent administrative support to our busy tax teams. You will be supporting the teams in a very busy environment where confidentiality and a proactive approach is essential. You will work alongside others in similar roles to provide a professional and efficient service for the teams.

Being highly organised and enthusiastic, you will proactively undertake administrative duties to assist the busy tax teams. This support will help to free up the time of fee-earning staff who are focused on client facing work. At times you will need to work independently and be able to multi-task a number of tasks at any given time.

We are constantly looking for ways of working more efficiently so being able to bring new ideas to the team and challenge our current processes will be welcomed.

The Candidate

A brief outline of some of the duties is set out below (but is not exhaustive):

Administrative assistance for the tax teams, including:

  • Drafting and editing reports including graphs and diagrams
  • Running WIP reports and analysis
  • Distribution of department post
  • Communicating with HMRC online and via phone
  • Arranging meetings and managing diary arrangements
  • Supporting department on marketing initiatives and requirements
  • Client onboarding and anti-money laundering correspondence

Client administration, including typing and formatting of:

  • Professional clearance letters
  • Fee Protection Service correspondence
  • CT61 letters
  • Penalty appeals
  • Producing weekly compliance reports/follow up reminders
  • E-filing of tax returns

Tax training administration:

  • Creating, monitoring, and tracking attendance on tax training courses on the firm’s learning management system
  • Liaising with both internal and external training providers to facilitate tax training,
  • Cultivating employee engagement for the tax training function,
  • Assisting with the operation and organisation of both face to face and virtual tax training sessions, and
  • Room booking & diary management
  • Highly organised and able to organise others
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities during each day/week
  • Capable of prioritising workload in order to deal with deadlines and manage relationships with colleagues / clients
  • A team player
  • Willingness and ability to help others
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Quick to learn

Work based competencies

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet
  • Knowledge of Alphatax/CCH (beneficial but not essential)
  • Training will be provided for departmental packages
