Job summary

Birmingham City Council’s Birmingham Adult Education Service is seeking a Quality Improvement Leader (Teaching and Learning Coach) on a fixed-term basis. The role includes coaching teachers, leading on staff development, and contributing to Ofsted readiness, with a teaching commitment up to 85 hours per year.

The post is 21.9 hours over 3 days; salary is pro rata (£21,247.20–£26,445) for Grade C, with a total Grade C salary of £35,412–£44,075 pro rata.

Qualifications

• A recognised teaching qualification at Level 5 or above (DTLLS, Cert Ed or PGCE).
• Level 3+ subject specialist qualification or equivalent experience.
• Level 2 English and Maths qualifications, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring teachers to improve teaching, learning and assessment.
• Conducting learning walks, classroom visits, formal audits and deep-dive activities.
• Providing constructive feedback and supporting teachers to develop improvement plans.
• Planning and delivering staff training and professional development activities.
• Analyzing learner progress data to inform improvements.
• Developing innovative teaching resources and online learning strategies.
• Promoting equality, safeguarding, Prevent and inclusive learning.
• Supporting quality improvement and Ofsted preparation.
• Teaching BAES learners up to 85 hours per year.
