Teaching Assistant (TA3) - Life Skills

The successful candidate will work 34 hours per week, Term Time plus 1 week (Inset Days)

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant (TA3) in Life Skills who is willing to go the "extra mile" in supporting our pupils to achieve their full potential. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Whilst previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, candidates who possess the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

The successful candidate will be a caring and dedicated individual committed to helping our students develop vital life skills for their future independence. Working in line with the plans of the Life Skills Curriculum Lead, you will support the delivery of the Life Skills curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, prepare, deliver, and evaluate tailored intervention programmes to pupils of different ages and ability levels; and bring confidence to the entirety of the Life Skills framework, including pathways for formal qualifications such as Entry Level and ASDAN. Additionally, you will support both specialist and non-specialist teachers with organising the practical resources, equipment, and community-based activities essential for meaningful, hands‑on learning, both within the school setting and within the local community.

Full details of the role are detailed in the below Job Description and Person Specification.

About Us

Presfield High School is an oversubscribed specialist provision which caters for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism from age 11 through to 19. All our 129 students have an EHCP which identifies Autism as their primary need. We are advocates of Dr Stephen Shore’s belief that “If you have met one child with autism you have met ONE child with autism”. This underpins all that we do and we are committed to challenging the stereotypical views that are often associated with Autism.

We passionately believe in empowering our students and their families to advocate for their individual needs to support them to make meaningful contributions to society and to gain employment if that istheir chosen destination. This is demonstrated in our diverse curriculum that promotes an aspirational academic and social pathway.

We are committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and Young People and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful applicants will be requested to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
