Job summary

Cockermouth School is seeking Teaching Assistants to support students, including those with Special Educational Needs, within its SRP autism provision. The Learning Support Department works to help pupils access lessons and develop essential learning skills.

Candidates should have GCSE English and Maths and be working towards or hold an NVQ or equivalent. A willingness to learn, independence, and teamwork are essential, with safeguarding checks including an enhanced DBS where required.

We are welcoming applications to join our team supporting students at Cockermouth School and in particular students with a range of Special Educational Needs. Our Learning Support Department encompasses a Specialist Resourced Provision for Autism (SRP):

Successful candidates will have the initiative to work independently, a willingness to learn and develop, capacity to contribute to a team approach, flexibility and a genuine empathy for pupils with SEND. Qualifications in autism or a willingness to be trained is required. Candidates should hold, or work towards, a relevant NVQ or equivalent qualification at the appropriate level.

GCSE grade 4 or above in English and maths (or equivalent) is required for all posts.
