Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant Reception (Visual Impairment & Medical Needs)
Location: Small Heath, Birmingham
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: Full-Time, 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Salary: Negotiable (Dependent on Experience)

Job Description:
The successful candidate will support a child with a visual impairment, who also requires assistance with a feeding tube and some personal care. This role is suited to someone with a caring nature, strong SEN experience, particularly with visual impairments, and the confidence to handle medical and personal care needs in a nurturing, professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support for a visually impaired child in Reception
• Assist with orientation, mobility, and classroom access
• Deliver tailored learning support and resources
• Manage medical needs including feeding via tube (training may be provided)
• Assist with personal care tasks
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists

Essential Requirements:

• Experience supporting children with visual impairments
• Confidence with medical and personal care needs
• A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach

To be eligible for any job with Prospero Teaching, you must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years
