Job summary

Key Stage Teacher Supply is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Penwortham. The role is 15 hours per week during September, supporting a pupil with learning, communication and personal development needs.

We are looking for someone with prior experience in SEN settings, a proactive and adaptable approach, and a commitment to safeguarding. DBS enhanced check or willingness to apply is required, with ongoing training opportunities offered.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within an SEN setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD).
  • Strong communication, patience and resilience.
  • Ability to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Willingness to support with personal care if required (training provided).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupil on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Assist with both learning activities and personal development.
  • Support pupil with communication, behaviour and engagement.
  • Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO and wider support staff.
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
