Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work across Sefton, Aintree and Maghull in welcoming primary schools. You will support children with additional needs, helping them access learning, develop wellbeing and become confident learners.

Role involves working with teachers and SENDCos to implement plans, promote inclusion and foster positive behaviour. DBS checks and references are required as part of safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs.
  • Caring, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and gain the trust of pupils.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Flexible, collaborative approach to working as part of a school team.
  • Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and children's welfare.
  • Two professional references.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Aspire People are currently recruiting dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming and inclusive primary schools in Sefton, Aintree and Maghull.

These opportunities are ideal for Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and want to make a meaningful difference to their education, development and wellbeing.

You’ll have the opportunity to work within supportive school environments where inclusion is at the heart of everything they do, helping pupils become confident, independent and successful learners.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you may be responsible for:

  • Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND across KS1 and KS2.
  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through appropriate strategies, adaptations and differentiated activities.
  • Working alongside class teachers and SENDCos to implement individual support plans and agreed strategies.
  • Promoting independence, confidence, positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Helping pupils to engage positively with learning and develop their social skills.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and providing consistent support.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Supporting an inclusive classroom environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs.
  • A caring, patient and empathetic approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and gain the trust of pupils.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A flexible and collaborative approach to working as part of a school team.
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and children's welfare.
  • The ability to adapt to different school environments and pupil needs.
  • Two professional references.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
