Teaching Assistant - SEN

Position: Teaching Assistant - SEN
Location: Lewes
Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time
Contract Type: Permanent, Term-Time Only

About the Role:

Randstad Education is seeking compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants specialising in SEN to provide 1:1 support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This role involves working closely with individual students in primary or secondary schools across Lewes, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential in a supportive and understanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide 1:1 support to pupils with Autism, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs.
  2. Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  3. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the pupil's social, emotional, and academic development.
  4. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to ensure the best outcomes for the pupil.
  5. Monitor and report on the pupil's progress, adapting support strategies as needed.
  6. Assist with classroom activities and promote positive interaction between the pupil and their peers.
Requirements:
  1. Experience working with children with Autism or other special educational needs is essential.
  2. A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach to working with children.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  5. Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs are advantageous.
  6. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
