Job summary

Vetro Recruitment currently has a Teaching Assistant position in Wirral for Primary / SEN. This is a 12-week temporary role with potential to become permanent.

The school serves children aged 5–11 with social, emotional and mental health needs and collaborates with other Wirral settings. Responsibilities include supporting games and literacy tasks, preparing classrooms, working in small groups or 1:1, and assisting with behaviour management and trips.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months' experience in schools, nurseries or similar settings.
• References covering the last two years (no gaps).
• Current DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

• Support and supervise educational games, sports and craft activities.
• Assist children with reading and literacy tasks.
• Prepare classrooms for lessons and activities.
• Work with pupils in small groups or 1:1, including children with additional needs.
• Create displays of children’s work.
• Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour.
• Help children on school trips and during group activities.
• Listen to children read, tell stories, and provide extra support as needed.

Job Description:

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in children’s lives (12 weeks of temporary work which can lead to a permanent position after 12 weeks).

The School is an independent 39-week specialist day provision for boys and girls, aged between 5 and 11, with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

We also work with a range of other education settings across Wirral.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting and supervising educational games, sports, and craft activities
• Assisting children with reading and literacy tasks
• Preparing classrooms for lessons and activities
• Working with pupils in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, including children with additional needs
• Creating displays of children’s work
• Supporting teachers in managing classroom behaviour
• Helping children on school trips and during group activities
• Listening to children read, telling stories, and providing extra support as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 months' experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or similar settings
