Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Teaching Assistant - Primary / SEN in Wirral, Merseyside for a 12-week temporary role that could become permanent after the trial period. The school supports children aged 5–11 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

You will assist with reading, literacy tasks, classroom prep, small-group or 1:1 support, and trips, while helping maintain positive behaviour. DBS and right to work are required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 months' experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or similar settings.
• References covering the last two years (no gaps).
• Current DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and supervising educational games, sports, and craft activities.
• Assisting children with reading and literacy tasks.
• Preparing classrooms for lessons and activities.
• Working with pupils in small groups or on a 1:1 basis, including children with additional needs.
• Creating displays of children's work.
• Supporting teachers in managing classroom behaviour.
• Helping children on school trips and during group activities.
• Listening to children read, telling stories, and providing extra support as needed.

Job Description:

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in children's lives (12 weeks of temporary work which can lead to a permanent position after 12 weeks).

The School is an independent 39-week specialist day provision for boys and girls, aged between 5 and 11, with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

We also work with a range of other education settings across Wirral.
