Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Teaching Assistant or support worker role.
  • Experience with SEMH needs within an educational setting.
  • Confidence in behaviour management and taking on additional responsibilities like lunchtime supervision.
  • Commitment to professional development and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom teachers during lessons to aid learning.

  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom times and on trips.
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and setting work where appropriate.

Job Description

Our client, a supportive and nurturing school in the Wirral, is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The school provides a safe environment for pupils aged 5 to 16 with complex needs. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people while developing your career within a well-regarded educational setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentoring and supporting one pupil or a small group of no more than six pupils, fostering positive relationships and encouraging engagement.
  • Supporting classroom teachers during lessons to facilitate effective learning experiences.
  • Reporting on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with staff to ensure individual needs are met.
  • Supervising pupils during non-classroom times, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
  • Assisting with lesson planning, classroom preparation, and setting work where appropriate.
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment through behaviour management and support.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with GCSE Grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant or support worker.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs within an educational setting.
  • Confidence in behaviour management techniques and the ability to take on additional responsibilities, such as lunchtime supervision or extracurricular activities.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
