Job Advert: Teaching Assistant (TA) - SEMH Support Location: Preston, Lancashire Start Date: September 2024 Contract: Full-time, Long-term Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have a talent for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! As a Teaching Assistant specialising in SEMH support, you will play a crucial role in the educational and personal development of our students. You will work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to create a positive learning environment tailored to the needs of each student. Your main responsibilities will include: • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs. • Assisting in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). • Supporting students in managing their behaviour and emotions. • Encouraging positive social interactions and promoting mental well-being. • Collaborating with teachers and other staff to create and maintain an inclusive classroom environment. • Monitoring and recording student progress and providing feedback to relevant stakeholders. • Participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities. Requirements: • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable. • A compassionate and patient approach, with excellent communication skills. • Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. • A proactive and flexible attitude, with a willingness to adapt to the needs of the school. • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are advantageous but not essential.
