  • Support students in developing their confidence, independence and study skills.
  • Provide targeted support with literacy, numeracy and general learning where required.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations and promote positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Use effective and consistent behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and purposeful learning environment.
  • Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining high expectations.
  • Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with students.
  • Encourage students to take responsibility for their learning, behaviour and progress.
  • Provide encouragement, reassurance and appropriate pastoral support.
  • Help students overcome barriers to learning and remain motivated.
  • Support students who may require additional guidance, encouragement or intervention.
  • Assist teachers with the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials.
  • Support differentiated learning activities and help students access work at an appropriate level.
  • Monitor student engagement and provide feedback to teachers where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, SENCOs and other school staff.
  • Support students during lessons, break times, lunchtimes and other parts of the school day where required.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, respectful and positive school environment.
  • Promote good attendance, punctuality, behaviour and engagement.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • Promote the wellbeing, personal development and academic progress of students.

Teaching Assistant - Secondary School in Bury
