The Governors of Grange C of E Primary School are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Reception class team. The successful candidate will support the learning, development and wellbeing of pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage, including providing targeted support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This is a part-time role working 20 hours per week, term time only. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider school team to ensure all children are supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning within the Reception class.
- Provide targeted support for pupils with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, including those with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Deliver and reinforce phonics teaching and early literacy interventions under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Adapt and prepare learning resources to ensure accessibility and engagement for all pupils.
- Support children's personal, social and emotional development, promoting independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
- Contribute to assessment and observation processes within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Follow safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety and school policies consistently.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain positive professional relationships with families.
- Support and promote the Christian vision and values of the school.
Person Specification
Essential
- Relevant qualification Level 3 or Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or SEND-related training.
- Experience of working with children in an educational setting.
- Experience of supporting children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Understanding of child development and effective early years practice.
- Understanding of a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
- Awareness of trauma-informed practice, including principles of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural consideration.
- Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
- Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and positive behaviour management techniques.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities.
- Willingness to undertake relevant professional development.
Desirable
- Experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
- Experience of delivering interventions and supporting learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised phonics programme.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
