Job description

Up to £29,815 + excellent benefits (salary will be pro rata'd)

Please note: this role is a fixed-term and part-time contract.

You will work with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Your role is to help them learn, develop their abilities, and boost their self-esteem. Resilience and dedication are essential, but the rewards of these small victories are significant.

Lavender Lodge School, housed in an 18th-century building in Mitcham, serves pupils from various boroughs. We pride ourselves on our pupils' achievements and our dedicated team. We were recently rated 'Good' by Ofsted.

Skill set requirements
  • Experience working with pupils who are autistic
  • Ability to communicate in various ways, including Makaton, picture display symbols, PECs, and PODD, especially with non-verbal pupils
  • Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and understanding its functions
  • Flexibility to work with pupils aged 4 to 11
  • Creativity in delivering bespoke, accessible lessons

Knowledge of autism strategies such as TEACCH, attention autism, PODD, and their practical application is desirable.
