Job summary

The Heights Academy in the United Kingdom is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 2 with safeguarding at the core of daily practice. The role requires a proactive, flexible team player who can build strong relationships with children and staff, providing high‑quality interactions and progress feedback to the class teacher.

  • Provide regular feedback on pupils' progress and wellbeing to the class teacher.
  • Be proactive, flexible and a reliable team player.

Job description

Job Overview

The Heights Academy opened in September 2023 in a brand‑new build, and this opportunity is part of the next stage of growth and development.

From September, the school will open to pupils in Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 and will grow to accommodate 116 pupils. All pupils have an EHCP with a diagnosis of Autism.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to pupils across the school, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Supervise groups and occasionally whole classes for a session.
  • Provide a high standard of nurturing and education through quality interactions and by developing strong, authentic relationships, for all children within our school, including one‑to‑one if required.
  • Be proactive, flexible and a reliable team player, offering support to colleagues when required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all to enable all children to flourish and to put the community’s needs at the forefront of all we do.
  • Help the children to make progress working closely with a supportive and experienced team, and other external professionals. Provide regular feedback to the class teacher, Senior Leadership Team and colleagues regarding children’s progress and general wellbeing.
Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications or experience would be desirable.

In line with safeguarding commitments, applicants will need an enhanced DBS check, proof of right to work in the UK, satisfactory references from at least two recent employers, evidence of the required qualifications, and medical clearance.
