Job summary

First Steps Together is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join Mount Havelock, a new specialist school in Huddersfield. You’ll work directly with pupils with SEND and SEMH, building positive relationships and supporting learning, wellbeing and independence.

Under the direction of teachers and senior staff, you’ll adapt activities, deliver targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy and social-emotional learning, and help create a calm, structured classroom environment for every

Qualifications

• A relevant Level 2 qualification such as Supporting Teaching and Learning.
• Good standard of general education including English and Maths.
• Experience with EHCPs or behaviour support plans is valuable.
• Experience with Zones of Regulation or nurture is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with pupils throughout the school day, building positive relationships and supporting academic, social and emotional development.
• Adapt learning approaches to help pupils access learning and remove barriers.
• Deliver learning activities and targeted interventions for individuals and small groups.
• Observe learning, behaviour and wellbeing and provide feedback to teachers.
• Support during breaks and transitions and supervise activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, school leaders and families as required.
