Job summary

First Steps Together is seeking a SEND Assistant for Mount Havelock, a new specialist school in Huddersfield opening Jan 2027. The role focuses on coordinating SEND provision, maintaining records and supporting EHCP implementation.

You will work with teachers, therapists and families to ensure personalised support, attendance and progress, while fostering inclusive practice and positive pupil outcomes.

Qualifications

• Organised, knowledgeable and committed SEND Assistant.
• Awareness of the Assess-Plan-Do-Review cycle and EHCPs.
• Experience with SEND provision, EHCP annual reviews and interventions.
• Ability to work with teachers, therapists, families and external professionals.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day SEND provision to deliver personalised support.
• Maintain the SEND register and SEND documentation.
• Support Assess-Plan-Do-Review processes and annual EHCP reviews.
• Provide one-to-one mentoring and small-group interventions.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure effective provision and outcomes.
