Job summary

Smithills School in Bolton is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 2 (SEND) to join our team. You will support learning activities, supervise individuals and groups under staff direction, and assist with behaviour management to enable access to learning for all pupils.

We value proactive support for colleagues, positive relationships with pupils and a commitment to safeguarding. This role is fixed-term for one year and aligned to term time plus five days.

Qualifications

• Experience as teaching assistant or similar role is preferred.
• Ability to support planning, delivery and evaluation of activities.
• Strong communication with pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the teacher in planning and delivering learning activities.
• Supervise groups of children under direction of staff.
• Provide feedback to help pupil progress and maintain behaviour in class.

WORKING PATTERN: 28 hrs 45 mins per week, Term Time plus 5 Days

CONTRACT: 1 Year Fixed Term

SALARY: Grade D Points 6 to 11 £25,989 to £28,142 PA Pro Rata

THE ROLE:

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well qualified candidate to join our team of Teaching Assistants in a successful and forward thinking department. You will work with and supervise individuals and groups of children under the direction/instruction of teaching &/or senior staff, inclusive of specific individual learning needs, enabling access to learning for all pupils and assistance and support in classroom management and behaviour techniques.

You will have the ability to support the teacher in planning, delivering and evaluating learning activities to ensure effective teaching and learning and the ability to give feedback in a constructive manner. You will be able to contribute to positive relationships with pupils and adults through communication and interaction and provide effective support for colleagues through differentiation and a proactive approach in and out of a classroom setting.
