Job summary

Our Lady & St Pauls Catholic School invites an Early Years specialist to work with the class teacher and team to support learning, development and wellbeing of children in the Early Years Foundation Stage. You will help create a safe, nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can flourish through adult-led activities and purposeful play.

You will assist with observations and assessment, plan interventions, and collaborate with families and professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Support learning experiences in the Early Years Foundation Stage through adult-led activities and purposeful play.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to develop communication, language, literacy, mathematics, physical development and social skills.
  • Assist with preparation and organisation of the learning environment and recording of children's progress.
  • Implement targeted interventions and provide individual support where required.
  • Collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants, families and other professionals.
  • Promote safeguarding and welfare and support the Catholic ethos of the school.

Job description

The successful candidate will work closely with the Early Years class teacher and wider Early Years team to support the learning, development and wellbeing of children within the Early Years Foundation Stage. They will help to create a safe, nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment in which every child is encouraged to flourish. The role will include supporting the delivery of high-quality learning experiences through both adult-led activities and purposeful play, working with individuals and small groups, and helping children to develop their communication and language, early literacy and mathematics, physical development, independence, confidence and personal, social and emotional skills. The successful candidate will support the class teacher with the preparation and organisation of the learning environment, observations and assessment of children's progress, and the implementation of appropriate interventions and individual support where required. As an Early Years specialist, the postholder will have a strong understanding of how young children learn and develop and will help ensure that provision reflects the needs, interests and next steps of all pupils. They will work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, families and other professionals and will contribute fully to the wider life of the school. The successful candidate will also be expected to promote high standards of behaviour, safeguarding and welfare and to support the distinctive Catholic ethos of Our Lady & St Paul's.
