Job summary

Saint Gregory’s RC Primary in Greater Manchester is seeking a Level 1 Teaching Assistant to support learning in the classroom and assist with small groups. The role includes lunchtime supervision and adapting to a class that may change termly, with safeguarding responsibilities and involvement in school life.

The post is fixed-term until 31 August 2027, term-time plus 5 inset days, 32.5 hours per week, ASAP start, with a salary reflected as £19,830 actual (£26,016 FTE).

Qualifications

• Support children's learning and development within the classroom.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce teaching.
• Prepare learning resources and assist with safeguarding.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming classroom and support behaviour.
• Support Catholic life and school values in prayers and worship.
• Lunchtime supervision of 30 minutes daily.

Responsibilities

• Support children’s learning and development within the classroom.
• Work with individuals and small groups, reinforce teaching, help children access planned activities and encourage confidence, independence and participation, including for children with SEN.
• Prepare learning resources and maintain a safe, welcoming classroom, support positive behaviour and share observations with the class teacher.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain confidentiality.
• Support the Catholic life of the school and participate in prayer, worship and school life.
• Undertake 30 minutes of lunchtime supervision daily to support safety and positive play.
