Job summary

Lift Crescent View is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH in KS1/KS2, in small classes of 8–10, helping them access lessons and develop social and emotional wellbeing.

We offer Level 3 TA training for those working 20 hours or more, plus clear pathways for progression to Level 5 qualifications and teacher training. DBS check and right to work in the UK are required, with a welcoming, supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent) required or willingness to work towards.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not mandatory.
• Willingness to engage in training to progress to Level 5 and teacher training.

We're looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our team, working 22hrs a week, to make a real difference in the lives of our students.

Your new school

Lift Crescent View is a specialist provision for children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. The school is led by a dedicated and experienced Principal, Liz Oakey, who has been with the school for 4 years. She has established a strong, supportive and welcoming team who together achieved a Good Ofsted where it was recognised that ''staff know the pupils well. They use this knowledge to raise pupils' self-esteem and ensure they are ready to learn''.

We teach children across KS1 and KS2 in small classes of 8-10 children, with an ambitious curriculum and increased opportunities for SEMH and personal development. We have high expectations for our pupils and all our staff work alongside the children, families and other professionals to ensure their needs are met. About the role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers to create an environment where all students can thrive. You'll help students access lessons, support their individual needs, and contribute to their social and emotional wellbeing. If you work 20 hours or more per week and don't already hold a Level 3 qualification, we'll support you to complete your Level 3 Teaching Assistant Training with us. For those who want to progress further, we also offer Level 5 apprenticeships and Initial Teacher Training opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with their learning needs, including SEND, so they can access lesson content and achieve their goals
• Help students build independent learning skills and confidence in managing their own progress
• Work alongside teachers to plan, assess and guide high quality lessons
• Guide small group or individual interventions to help students achieve together
• Build trusted relationships with students and support positive behaviour across the school
• Work with teaching staff, pastoral teams, parents and carers to support every student's learning journey

We are looking for someone who

You don't need years of experience to apply. What matters most is your willingness to learn and your commitment to supporting young people. We're looking for someone with good communication skills and a reflective approach to their work. You'll be resilient, patient and empathetic, with a calm presence in the classroom.

You'll need GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English, or a willingness to work towards functional skills qualifications. Experience working in a school or with young people would be helpful, but it's not essential. Basic IT skills and a willingness to develop your knowledge of child development are important.
