Job summary

Lift Schools is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our team on a 22-hour-per-week contract. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, help access lessons and contribute to their social and emotional wellbeing.

No extensive experience required; a willingness to learn, good communication, and a calm, empathetic presence in the classroom are valued. Level 3 TA training and progression opportunities are available with support from the school.

We're looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our team, working 22hrs a week, to make a real difference in the lives of our students.

Your new school

Lift Crescent View is a specialist provision forchildren with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. The school is led by a dedicated and experienced Principal, Liz Oakey, who has been with the school for 4 years. She has established a strong, supportive and welcoming team who together achieved a Good Ofsted where it was recognised that ‘'staff know the pupils well. They use this knowledge to raise pupils' self-esteem and ensure they are ready to learn''.

We teach children across KS1 and KS2 in small classes of 8-10 children, with an ambitious curriculum and increased opportunities for SEMH and personal development. We have high expectations for our pupils and all our staff work alongside the children, families and other professionals to ensure their needs are met. About the role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers to create an environment where all students can thrive. You'll help students access lessons, support their individual needs, and contribute to their social and emotional wellbeing. If you work 20 hours or more per week and don't already hold a Level 3 qualification, we'll support you to complete your Level 3 Teaching Assistant Training with us. For those who want to progress further, we also offer Level 5 apprenticeships and Initial Teacher Training opportunities.

We are looking for someone who

You don't need years of experience to apply. What matters most is your willingness to learn and your commitment to supporting young people. We're looking for someone with good communication skills and a reflective approach to their work. You'll be resilient, patient and empathetic, with a calm presence in the classroom.

You’ll need GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English, or a willingness to work towards functional skills qualifications. Experience working in a school or with young people would be helpful, but it's not essential. Basic IT skills and a willingness to develop your knowledge of child development are important.
