Job summary

John Blandy Primary School in Oxfordshire invites applications for a caring Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will support pupils in class, provide targeted support, and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment that enables every child to thrive.

We value wellbeing, professional development and strong collaboration with staff, families and external professionals. Experience with children and a Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with or caring for children.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues and families.
  • Works effectively as part of a team.
  • Understands safeguarding and inclusion.
  • Willing to learn and engage in professional development opportunities.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning strategies (desirable).
  • Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in the classroom and during learning activities.
  • Provide individual and small-group support, including for pupils with additional needs.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Assist with the implementation of education, behaviour and personal care plans.
  • Help create a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum activities.
  • Assist with educational visits, lunchtime supervision and other school activities as required.
