Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Slough. You will support students’ learning, development and wellbeing, working closely with teachers and the broader school team.

The role involves one-to-one and small group support, fostering confidence and inclusion while upholding safeguarding policies. A DBS check is required or willingness to obtain one; start date is October 2026.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in planning and delivering engaging, inclusive and effective learning activities.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence.
  • Work with students across a range of abilities, adapting support to meet individual learning needs where appropriate.
  • Assist students with literacy, numeracy, communication and other areas of academic development.
  • Support students who may have additional learning needs, including SEND.
  • Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, social skills and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Help create a positive, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation, curiosity and respect.
  • Provide pastoral and emotional support to students, helping to promote wellbeing and engagement in school.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on students' progress, behaviour and engagement, communicating concerns to the class teacher.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, teaching assistants, parents and the wider school team to support student progress and wellbeing.
  • Assist with classroom preparation, displays, resources and other duties contributing to an effective learning environment.
  • Support students during break times, lunchtimes, school activities, trips and other wider school initiatives where required.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
