Lift Schools is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the Early Years team for 30 hours per week during term-time, including INSET days. You will help children aged 2–5 develop through play, strengthening communication, confidence and social skills in a supportive environment.
The role requires a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, a calm and nurturing approach, and the ability to build strong relationships with children and families.
Are you passionate about Early Years and helping young children get the very best start to their education? We are looking for a warm, nurturing and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated Early Years team for 30 hours per week, term-time only, including INSET days.
Do you believe that children learn best through play, meaningful relationships and opportunities to explore, investigate and make sense of the world around them?
Lift Barton Hill is a welcoming and inclusive primary school, graded ‘Good' by Ofsted, with an ‘Outstanding' Early Years provision. We are committed to ensuring that every child has a happy, active and successful primary education in an environment that is caring, supportive and nurturing.
Our Early Years provision includes Pebbles, our purpose-built nursery for 2 and 3-year-olds; Shells pre-school for 3–4-year-olds; and two Reception classes, Coral and Starfish. Shells, Coral and Starfish work closely together, sharing a rich outdoor environment where children can learn through play, discovery and exploration.
We believe every child is unique, capable and full of potential. Our Early Years provision encourages children to be curious, independent and confident learners. We believe that children learn through play, exploration, meaningful relationships and engaging experiences, supported by carefully planned environments that give them the freedom to follow their own interests and ideas, while being supported by knowledgeable and responsive adults.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with children in the Early Years. You will join an experienced and supportive Early Years team of skilled teachers and teaching assistants, led by an experienced EYFS Lead. Working collaboratively, you will help create an inclusive environment where every child feels a strong sense of belonging and is supported to thrive.
You will support children's learning and development through play and everyday experiences, helping them develop their communication, confidence, social skills, physical development and independence. You will build positive relationships with children and their families, getting to know each child and using their interests and needs to support their learning. Most importantly, you will share our commitment to giving every child the very best start to their education.
You will have at least a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, along with a genuine passion for working with young children. You will be warm, patient and nurturing, with a calm and responsive approach and the ability to build positive relationships with children and families.
You will ideally have a good understanding of the Early Years Statutory Framework and recognise that children develop in different ways and at different stages. You will be creative, enthusiastic and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Previous Early Years experience would be desirable, but we are equally interested in applicants who can demonstrate a genuine passion for working with young children and a willingness to learn and develop. You will need to be Paediatric First Aid trained or willing to achieve the qualification within the first six weeks of your appointment.
For ambitious applicants, there are opportunities for future career progression through our Level 3 and Level 5 Teaching Assistant apprenticeships and Lift Schools' Initial Teacher Training programme.
