Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Teaching Assistants to join our SEND school in Oxfordshire, supporting 11-16 year olds with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing needs.

You will work in small classes with a multi-disciplinary team, promote confidence and independence, and adapt activities to meet individual needs, with safeguarding and DBS checks in place.

A dedicated training and development pathway is available, including free safeguarding training.

Job description

We are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants to join our SEND school in Oxfordshire, supporting young people aged 11-16 who require additional support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism.

Our approach includes small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios and a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to thrive.

We are looking for creative, proactive and compassionate individuals who can think outside the box and help bring learning to life.

You will be a motivator and problem-solver, inspiring our young people to believe in themselves and supporting them to build confidence for both now and the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Help our young people recognise just how amazing they are by building their confidence and celebrating their individual strengths.
• Break down barriers to learning and support pupils to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
• Inspire resilience and self-belief, encouraging curiosity, personal growth and a positive attitude towards learning.

• As with most Teaching Assistant roles, no two days are the same. Duties will vary, so you should be flexible, adaptable and willing to lend a hand wherever needed.

Skills & Qualifications

• A genuine ability to motivate and inspire children and young people to believe in themselves.
• GCSE Maths and English qualifications, or a minimum of Functional Skills Level 2.
• A proactive, positive and can-do attitude, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box.
• A willingness to take advantage of our excellent free training and development opportunities, such as the Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, if not already achieved.
• The ability to promote independence, positive behaviour and personal development.
• A creative and flexible approach to adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people with SEND.
• For candidates who have not worked in the SEND or education sector before, please be aware that the application and recruitment process is more detailed and thorough than in many other sectors due to the nature of the work and our safeguarding responsibilities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.

In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
