Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd in Pontypool is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a large mainstream primary school. You will provide mixed in-class support and 1:1 assistance for pupils with ALN, including ASD/ADHD and BESD.

The role starts immediately on a full-time, long-term basis. The school values a patient, adaptable approach and strong teamwork with teaching staff to help pupils access the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with ALN, including ASD, ADHD or behavioural difficulties.
• Ability to provide effective 1:1 support alongside general classroom assistance.
• Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff.
• Patient, caring and adaptable with a positive 'can-do' attitude.

Responsibilities

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a large mainstream primary school based in Pontypool, who are looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA). The school benefits from a friendly, welcoming and supportive staff team who work collaboratively to create a positive learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

The school is looking to take on a Learning Support Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis, starting immediately. The successful Learning Support Assistant will provide a mixture of general classroom support and 1:1 assistance for pupils with mild Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD), helping pupils remain engaged, develop confidence and access the curriculum.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children in a primary school setting
• Experience supporting pupils with ALN, including ASD, ADHD or behavioural difficulties
• The ability to provide effective 1:1 support alongside general classroom assistance
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach with a positive 'can-do' attitude
• A relevant Teaching Assistant or Learning Support qualification (desirable)
