Job summary

Outcomes First Group is offering a Pastoral Support Assistant role at Syon Manor College, focused on supporting students with autism and complex needs in an autism-specific environment.

You will work with teachers, therapists and care colleagues to deliver tailored educational and pastoral support, helping students build confidence and independence while safeguarding their wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to help students access learning and develop independence.
• Deliver engaging learning experiences with teachers and implement education, behaviour, and communication plans.
• Promote students' social, emotional, physical, and educational development in a safe environment.
• Support positive behaviour strategies, emotional regulation, routines and personal care where required.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor progress, and contribute to reviews and planning documentation.
• Collaborate with education, care and therapy teams to ensure consistent safeguarding and welfare.
• Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.

Job description

We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Support Assistant to join our specialist education team. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a student transitioning from an ABA-based learning approach into our autism-specific educational environment. You'll play a key role in helping them build confidence, independence, and positive outcomes while supporting their learning journey. Working alongside teachers, therapists, care colleagues, and other professionals, you will provide tailored educational and pastoral support to students with autism and associated needs. You will help create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

• Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to help students access learning, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.
• Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences and implement individual education, behaviour, and communication plans.
• Promote students’ social, emotional, physical, and educational development within a safe and supportive environment.
• Support positive behaviour strategies, emotional regulation, morning routines, and personal care where required.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor progress, and contribute to student reviews and planning documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with education, care, and therapy teams to ensure consistent support while safeguarding the welfare and wellbeing of all students.
  Experience supporting children and young people with autism, SEN, or complex needs.
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Confident managing challenging behaviours and promoting positive outcomes.
• Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
• Competent with basic IT systems and accurate record keeping.
• Committed to safeguarding, professional development, and making a positive difference to students’ lives.
• Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or willingness to work towards)
• Level 2 SEN qualification desirable
• Driving licence desirable
  Syon Manor College is a post 16 learning and skills provider for young people with autism and complex needs. The college will offer a broad curriculum of academic, vocational and life skills learning including BTECs, GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN accreditations which will work towards their preparation for adulthood targets and into employment, supported internships or higher education.
