Job summary

Hillfort Primary School in Liskeard, Cornwall, is seeking a dynamic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to support the transition from Early Years into Key Stage 1 with phonics and early literacy interventions.

You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver small-group phonics, early literacy and numeracy support, including children with SEND, and contribute to a safe, nurturing classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Candidates should hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) and demonstrate proven experience in delivering targeted early reading support (Read Write Inc).
• A strong commitment to positive behaviour management, a confident understanding of continuous provision, and the ability to adapt activities flexibly to meet diverse learning needs—including children with SEND—are essential.
