Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a motivated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, two-form entry primary school in the L9 area of Liverpool. This part-time role is ideal for someone with recent experience working with children aged 4–8 and who wants to develop their skills in a supportive KS1 setting.

You will work closely with the Year 1 class teacher to support pupils academically, socially and emotionally during this important stage of their education.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience working with children aged 4–8 within the last 12 months is essential.
  • Experience working in a school, nursery, childcare, tutoring, or similar setting is required.
  • Experience supporting pupils within KS1 is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and well-structured learning environment.
  • Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence, confidence and engagement.
  • Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress where appropriate.
  • Support phonics, early reading, writing and maths activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and wider school staff.

Classroom & School Support

Key Responsibilities
