Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Primary KS2 Teaching Assistant to support learning across year groups in a welcoming primary school in Oldham. The role is day-to-day, short-term or long-term and starts in September. This is a temporary position.

You will work with individuals and small groups, assist the class teacher, and help foster a calm, inclusive classroom. A Level 2/3 TA qualification and recent school experience are required, with SEND experience desirable.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Recent experience working in a school or education setting.
  • Experience supporting children with a range of abilities and needs (including SEND is desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting learning.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and desire to see them succeed.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively as part of the supportive school team.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with learning - Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and provide additional support where needed.
  • Assist the class teacher - Help with classroom activities, preparation of resources, displays, and general day-to-day classroom organisation.
  • Support positive behaviour - Encourage good behaviour, follow the school's behaviour policies, and help create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote pupil wellbeing and safeguarding - Support pupils' emotional and physical wellbeing, remain alert to safeguarding concerns, and follow school procedures appropriately.
  • Work flexibly as part of the school team - Adapt quickly to different classrooms, year groups, routines, and teaching styles while communicating effectively with teachers and other staff.
