Job summary

Flourish Education is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Kidderminster, supporting a Year 2 class after the October half-term. This long-term, part-time role runs Monday to Thursday, offering meaningful classroom support and development opportunities within a supportive team.

You will work closely with the class teacher to help pupils engage with learning, build confidence and independence, and support reading, writing and maths across the year group.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Primary School setting is essential.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is required.
  • Understanding of the KS1 curriculum is desirable.
  • A nurturing, patient and positive approach to supporting children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher with delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Provide general classroom support across Year 2.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Assist with reading, writing, and maths activities.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual pupil needs and maintain a nurturing environment.
  • Support positive behaviour and a calm, productive classroom.

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity?

A welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Kidderminster is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Year 2 class after the October half-term. This is a long-term, part-time position working Monday to Thursday.

The successful candidate will provide general classroom support to the Year 2 class, working closely with the class teacher to help pupils engage positively with their learning and develop their confidence and independence.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant who enjoys working as part of a classroom team and is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will support pupils across the class, working with individuals and small groups where required.

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and effective lessons.
  • Providing general classroom support to pupils across the Year 2 class.
  • Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and support pupil progress.
  • Supporting pupils with their reading, writing, maths and wider curriculum activities.
  • Adapting activities and resources to help meet individual pupil needs.
  • Developing positive and trusting relationships with pupils and creating a safe, nurturing learning environment.
  • Encouraging pupils to become independent and confident learners.
  • Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm and productive classroom environment.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to identify and respond to pupils' individual needs.
  • Providing additional support to individuals and small groups where required.
  • Helping to prepare classroom resources and maintain an organised learning environment.
To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need:
  • Previous experience working within a Primary School setting.
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar education-based role.
  • A good understanding of the Primary curriculum, particularly at Key Stage 1, would be desirable.
  • A nurturing, patient and positive approach to supporting children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Confidence supporting individuals and small groups with their learning.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting the class teacher.
  • A DBS on the update service, or issued within the last 12 months.
  • A minimum of two excellent references.
