Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking Teaching Assistants to join a prominent Outstanding secondary school in Hemel Hempstead from September 2026.

You will support students with additional needs in the SEN department, across Key Stage 3 to 5, and collaborate with teachers to help learners access the curriculum.

Applicants with a Bachelor's degree or experience working with young people are welcome; Psychology graduates are encouraged. The role offers strong CPD and a supportive school community.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or relevant experience working with young people.
  • Psychology degree desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is advantageous.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • A positive, proactive and reliable approach to working within a school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with additional needs including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Help students access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

  • Assist in classroom activities and attend parents' evenings when required.

Teaching Assistant - Hemel Hempstead September 2026 Start

Teaching Assistants required to join an 'Outstanding' secondary school in Hemel Hempstead from September 2026.

Prospero Teaching is working with a fantastic Outstanding secondary school in Hemel Hempstead that is looking to recruit a number of Teaching Assistants to join their supportive SEN department from September 2026.

We welcome applications from Psychology Graduates, Graduates, and experienced Teaching Assistants who are passionate about making a real difference to the lives of young people.

The successful candidates will support students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH and behavioural needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Contract Details

Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Position: Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Hours: Full Time (8:00am - 3:30pm/4:00pm, plus parents\' evenings where required)
Pay: 95 - 110 per day, depending on experience
