Job summary

Woodpecker Hall Academy in London is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a nurturing primary environment. You will work closely with teachers to deliver targeted learning activities, promote inclusion and help pupils access the curriculum.

The role requires a Level 2 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification, GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above, and First Aid (or Paediatric First Aid).

About the role

We are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community at Woodpecker Hall Academy.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and wider school staff to create a nurturing, inclusive and engaging learning environment where every pupil feels safe, valued and empowered to succeed. You will provide targeted support in the classroom, helping pupils to access the curriculum, develop confidence, build independence and reach their full potential.

The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of learning needs and abilities, adapting activities and approaches to meet individual needs, and contributing to pupils’ academic, social and emotional development. You will also play an important role in promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing, teamwork and independence during lessons, playtimes, mealtimes and school activities.

Working collaboratively with colleagues and families, you will help maintain a safe, structured and supportive environment for all pupils. The role also includes supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, supervising children during various activities and contributing to the wider life of the school.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children in a primary school setting. You will ideally hold a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Mathematics, and a First Aid or Paediatric First Aid qualification. You will have experience supporting pupils individually and in small groups, promoting positive behaviour and helping children with a range of learning needs. Strong communication, teamwork, organisation and IT skills are essential, alongside a sound understanding of safeguarding, child development and inclusion. Above all, you will be a positive, reliable and caring role model who is passionate about supporting every child to achieve their full potential.
