Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for schools across Middlesbrough. The role involves supporting students aged 11-19 across KS3-KS5, aiding teachers in delivering lessons, and providing tailored 1:1 academic and pastoral support.

The position runs 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with a view to permanency. Previous school-based experience and a relevant qualification are desirable, along with DBS checks and right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

We are recruiting on behalf of secondary schools across Middlesbrough seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support students in KS3, KS4 and KS5 settings. About the role:

• Supporting students aged 11-19 across all year groups, depending on your preference and experience.
• Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
• Providing tailored academic and pastoral support on a 1:1 basis.
• Supporting small groups of students, typically between 3-5 pupils.
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Encouraging student engagement, confidence and independence in the classroom.

Pay, Hours and Contract:

• Pay: £15 - £17 per hour
• Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
• Contract: Full-time, temporary position with the potential to become permanent

Experience, Qualifications and Requirements:

• Previous experience working in a school, education, childcare, youth work or support-based setting is desirable.
• Teaching Assistant, Supporting Teaching & Learning, childcare or related qualification (preferred but not essential).
• Confident supporting students on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, positive and proactive approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to process a new application.
• Professional child-related or care-related references covering the last two years.
