Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is partnering with a Middlesbrough-based all-through community special school to recruit a Specialist Teaching Assistant for the 14-19 pathway. This full-time, long-term supply role offers daily pay of 95–110 and a supportive environment with a focus on helping students develop life skills and independence.

You will work alongside teachers, therapists and families to deliver personalised learning tailored to EHCP outcomes and preparation-for-adulthood goals,

We are working in partnership with an exceptional all-through community special school in Middlesbrough that is recognised for its inclusive ethos, outstanding staff support, and commitment to helping every young person achieve their potential. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join the school's 14-19 pathway, supporting young people as they develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for life beyond education.

The Role

Working alongside experienced teaching and support staff, you will help deliver purposeful, personalised learning that is shaped by each student's EHCP outcomes and preparation-for-adulthood goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting students aged 14-19 with a range of additional needs.
• Helping learners work towards individual EHCP targets.
• Encouraging independence, communication, and life skills.
• Assisting with vocational, practical, and community-based learning activities.
• Building positive relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing, and achievement.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to support student progress.

The Ideal Candidate

• Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Are passionate about helping young people prepare for adulthood.
• Can build strong, trusting relationships with students.
• Are patient, resilient, and adaptable in their approach.
• Have experience in education, care, youth work, support work, or similar settings.
