Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Middlesbrough is seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil in a welcoming primary school. This part-time position focuses on providing dedicated one-to-one support and helping the pupil engage in lessons.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and support staff to implement behaviour strategies and foster a calm, supportive learning environment that promotes confidence and social development.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.

1:1 Teaching Assistant - Year 3

Are you a patient, resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning?

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil within a welcoming primary school in Middlesbrou. This rewarding part-time role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships, provide consistent support and help a child achieve success both academically and socially.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a Year 3 pupil who requires additional support with behavioural, emotional and learning needs. You will play a key role in helping them engage positively within the classroom environment and reach their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies in line with the school's policies
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Supporting emotional regulation and encouraging positive behaviour choices
  • Assisting with classroom learning and engagement in lessons
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff
  • Promoting the pupil's confidence, independence and social development
  • Maintaining a calm, consistent and supportive approach at all times

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in supporting children with challenging behaviour
  • Calm, patient and resilient in their approach
  • Confident managing behaviours that may present barriers to learning
  • Skilled at building positive relationships with children
  • Understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Committed to helping every child achieve their potential

Previous experience within a primary school, SEN setting, alternative provision or behavioural support role would be highly desirable.
