Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive secondary school team in the Surrey area, with a start date in October 2026 and full-time hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm in Croydon.

The role focuses on providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH. You will work closely with teachers and the SEND team to help students access the curriculum and build confidence.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of SEND including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
  • Patient, compassionate and adaptable with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and promote inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons.
  • Support students with learning, communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Help implement individual support plans and EHCP targets.
  • Encourage student independence, confidence and resilience.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and the SENDCo.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Support students during lessons, breaktimes, visits and activities.

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive secondary school team in the Surrey area. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students, helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally within an inclusive learning environment.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and the wider SEND team to provide tailored support for students with additional learning needs. You will play a vital role in helping students access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a SEND Teacher Assistant who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Has an understanding of SEND, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
  • Is patient, compassionate, and adaptable.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team.
  • Is committed to promoting inclusion and student wellbeing.
  • Has a positive and proactive approach to supporting learning.

A Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant training would be advantageous but is not essential.

Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
