Working closely with the class teacher, you will help create a positive and inclusive learning environment, providing support with learning, social, emotional and welfare needs. You will encourage pupils to engage in activities, develop their independence and interact positively with others, while helping to scaffold learning and provide feedback on their progress.
The successful candidate will have GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent, with a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification such as Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools being desirable. Previous experience working with EYFS or primary-aged children, ideally in an educational setting, would be an advantage, as would experience supporting children with SEN or EAL. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, strong organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a busy school team. Basic ICT skills, including using word processing applications and iPads, are also required.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development and who can demonstrate behaviour that promotes our school values of respect, kindness and perseverance. You will work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCo, pastoral staff, parents and external specialists, helping to support pupils' individual needs and contribute to their progress.
