Job summary

SMART Education Recruitment is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex SEND at a specialist school in Walsall. You will work within a skilled team to provide a nurturing, structured environment.

This role requires a minimum 6 months of SEN TA experience; candidates should be confident with children having physical, medical, or learning difficulties and possess or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS (Update Service).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, supporting pupils with complex SEND.
  • Confident working with children and young people who have physical, medical, or learning difficulties.
  • Enhanced Child or Child & Adult DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to provide references covering the previous 24 months.

Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • Assist in lessons, helping with learning, communication, and daily routines.
  • Work one-to-one or in small groups to help pupils achieve their EHCP targets.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals to promote positive outcomes.
  • Encourage independence and wellbeing throughout the school day.

The Role

Location and Package
  • Location: Walsall
  • Contract: Long-term, starting 1st September 2026
  • Daily rate: £95.00 - £109.25 (paid PAYE or Umbrella)
