Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Blyth is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND, helping them engage in lessons and feel safe and valued.

You will work alongside teachers to deliver tailored interventions, support ASC/ADHD and other needs, and uphold safeguarding and school policies in a busy primary environment.

This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, starting 28/9/26, with DBS checks and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering support and interventions in schools.
• Experience with SEN education.
• Understanding of safeguarding and keeping children safe in education.

Responsibilities

Compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with experience delivering high-quality support and interventions in a range of schools in the Blyth area. This is a hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You will support pupils with their learning, encourage independence, promote engagement in lessons and activities, and help create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where every child can succeed.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will help create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment that enables every pupil to thrive. This role is ideal for someone who has previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties, learning disabilities, or social, emotional and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour support strategies consistently.
• Assist with the preparation and organisation of learning resources and classroom materials.
• Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
• Assist with personal care and physical support where required, in line with individual care plans.
