Job summary

Novus is seeking a Functional Skills Curriculum Manager to shape our curriculum at HMP Stoke Heath, near Market Drayton. This role centers on strategic curriculum development and quality assurance to improve learner outcomes in functional skills.

The post is permanent, full-time (37 hours per week). The successful candidate will have teaching qualifications and a degree, plus experience in partnership working and effective communication within education settings.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP/YOI Stoke Heath, working as a Functional Skills Curriculum Manager. This role is offered on a permanent, full time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Stoke Heath, located near Market Drayton in Shropshire, is a Category C prison that houses adult male offenders and young adults. The team's aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
  • Degree or equivalent (including equivalent life / career experience)
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Implementing continuous quality assurance procedures
  • Successful partnership working
  • Effective Communication and interpersonal skills
