You’ll teach a broad, engaging curriculum to small groups, adapt lessons to individual needs, and support pupils’ wellbeing and progression within a fixed-term term-time framework.

Teacher – Therapeutic SEMH School

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

Contract: Permanent, Term Time

Start Date: January 2027 or sooner, subject to notice period

Hours: Monday–Friday | Full-time

Salary: £36,000–£52,000pa, dependent on experience

LTE Search is supporting an established specialist school in Chelmsford to appoint a Teacher to join its team.

The school supports young people with SEMH, trauma and associated SEND needs, providing a highly individualised approach to teaching, behaviour and wellbeing.

This is not a traditional classroom environment. Pupils may have experienced significant disruption within education, so teachers need to be able to build strong relationships, understand what sits behind behaviour and adapt their teaching to help young people re-engage and progress.

The Role

You’ll teach a broad and engaging curriculum to small groups of young people, adapting lessons to their individual academic levels, needs and interests.

We’re open to both Primary and Secondary trained teachers from any subject specialism. You will, however, need to be confident teaching at least two curriculum areas, with the ability to contribute beyond your main subject.

You’ll work closely with colleagues and support staff to:

• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Adapt teaching to different academic levels and learning needs.

• Re‑engage pupils who may have struggled in mainstream education.
• Contribute to pastoral care and wider personal development.
• Help young people develop confidence, independence and the skills they need for their next steps.

The school offers a structured, supportive and relationship‑led environment, with small classes allowing teachers to properly understand their pupils and adapt their approach.

About You

We’re looking for a teacher who is confident, adaptable and genuinely interested in working with young people who need a different approach to education.

Experience in SEMH, SEND, AP, PRUs or specialist education would be highly desirable, but isn’t essential. We’re also interested in mainstream teachers who are looking to develop their practice in a more therapeutic setting.

You’ll need:

• QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.

The school continues to grow through referrals and pupil intake, so while January 2027 is the anticipated start for this position, an earlier start may be possible for the right candidate.
