Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Stockport is recruiting an enthusiastic SEMH Youth Worker to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs in a specialist SEN Primary School.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, model calm behaviour, help with emotional regulation, and collaborate with teachers and the SEN team to create a nurturing, safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting SEMH, autism, challenging behaviour, trauma, social difficulties or additional educational needs would be highly desirable.
• Calm, compassionate, consistent and resilient approach is preferred.
• Ability to understand behaviour as communication and tailor support to individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs.

Do you have the patience, resilience and empathy to support children who may struggle with emotional regulation, behaviour, social interaction and engagement with education?

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed SEMH Youth Worker to join a specialist SEN primary school in Stockport.

The Role

As an SEMH Youth Worker, you will play a key role in supporting pupils' social, emotional and mental health, helping them to develop the skills and confidence they need both inside and outside the classroom.

You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider SEN team to provide consistent, nurturing and structured support.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs.

• Providing a calm, consistent and supportive presence throughout the school day.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals.
• Following individual support plans and contributing to pupils' development and progress.

About You

The successful candidate will be someone who is calm, compassionate, consistent and resilient.

You will understand that behaviour is often a form of communication and be able to look beyond the behaviour to understand the individual needs of the child.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
