Job summary

The Chauncy School in Ware is seeking a qualified Science Teacher to join a dedicated department. You will teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics across KS3, GCSE and possibly KS5, delivering engaging lessons and supporting exam preparation.

We aim to maintain outstanding student achievement, with a strong focus on safeguarding, SEN/EAL support, and collaborative professional development within a motivated team.

Qualifications

• Qualified science teacher with KS3–KS5 experience.
• Strong classroom practice and high expectations for pupil achievement.

Responsibilities

• Teach Science across KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
• Plan, differentiate and deliver engaging lessons for all learners.
• Prepare students for internal and external examinations and track progress using data.
• Lead enrichment activities and science clubs; contribute to curriculum development.
• Liaise with parents and external agencies to support student wellbeing.

Job Description - Teacher of Science

• Job title: Teacher of Science
• Responsible to: Head of Science
• Salary/Grade: MPS £35602 - £48478 + TLR for suitable candidate
• Contract: Permanent
• Working pattern: Full-time - 21 teaching hours per week
• Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Teach Science across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics (GCSE and A-level, including combined science routes)
  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations, supporting them to reach their full academic potential
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and EAL students
  • Use data-driven approaches to track pupil progress, set targets, and implement interventions to raise attainment for all groups
  • Contribute to curriculum development and review within the Science department
  • Lead and support science enrichment activities and extra-curricular science clubs
  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and forward-thinking team, sharing best practice and resources
