Job summary

Hamstead Hall Academy in Birmingham is seeking a History Teacher to cover maternity leave across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential KS5 to be desirable. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess progress and provide feedback, and contribute to the Humanities department and wider academy life.

We welcome experienced teachers and early career teachers who are committed to safeguarding and raising standards for all learners. The role is full-time and on-site at the Birmingham campus.

Qualifications

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status and is qualified to teach in the UK.
  • Has a degree in History or a related discipline.
  • Has successful teaching experience in a secondary school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with KS5 as desirable.
  • Plan and teach a broad, balanced and differentiated History curriculum.
  • Monitor, assess and provide high-quality feedback to support student progress.
  • Create a positive, well-managed learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support the Humanities department's success.
  • Support the wider life of the Academy through attendance at events and enrichment opportunities.

Are you a passionate and inspiring History teacher looking to make a real difference? Hamstead Hall Academy, part of the Hamstead Hall Academy Trust, is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of History to join our successful team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner to teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to contribute to Key Stage 5 being desirable. We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and ambitious early career teachers who are committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive History lessons that inspire a love of learning.
  • Plan and teach a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum that enables all students to achieve their potential.
  • Monitor, assess and provide high-quality feedback to support excellent student progress.
  • Create a positive, purposeful and well-managed learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the continued success of the Humanities department.
  • Support the wider life of the Academy through attendance at events, parents' evenings and enrichment opportunities.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status and is qualified to teach in the UK.
  • Has a degree in the subject area or a related discipline.
  • Has successful teaching experience in a secondary school environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom practice and high expectations of students.
  • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion and raising standards for all learners.
  • Can teach History to Key Stage 4; experience or knowledge of Key Stage 5 is desirable.
