Job summary

Learners' Trust seeks a Permanent Class Teacher to educate and care for pupils with significant learning difficulties, including autism and other needs. The role may be part-time for the right applicant and involves teaching across ages 4–19 in various pathways, with a focus on SEN support and inclusive practice.

You will contribute to curriculum delivery, pupil well-being, and assessment, while collaborating with colleagues, parents, and carers to support each child’s progress and development.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching in mainstream or special school settings is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
• Sound knowledge of SEN and associated needs is essential.
• Positive approach to challenge and change is expected.

Responsibilities

• Teach and oversee the well-being of a class of pupils with learning difficulties and SEN.
• Deliver lessons across the four pathways and possibly across age ranges 4–19.
• Work with staff to implement curriculum policies and adapt to pupils’ needs.
• Engage with stakeholders and maintain professional standards.

Job description

Ashgate Croft is a large and complex area special school.We provide education and care for pupils with significant learning difficulties, including autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties and associated communication, behavioural and physical needs.

The post is for a Permanent Class Teacher (part time posts will be considered for the right applicant), the successful candidate will be responsible for the teaching and well-being of a class of pupils with learning difficulties, communication needs andbehaviour that challenges, pupils may also have physical and medical needs. The class teacher may be required to teach any age group (4-19) and in any of the four pathways (Please see attached Curriculum Policy for more details about theCurriculum that we follow).

You should –

• Have successful teaching experience in either a mainstream or special school setting;
• Have excellent interpersonal skills;
• Have sound knowledge and experience of working with pupils with SEN;
• Have a positive approach to challenge and change
