Job summary

Greenacre School, one of the UK's largest special schools, is seeking an inspirational Class Teacher to join its inclusive team. The role focuses on delivering a broad curriculum tailored to pupils with severe and complex learning disabilities, with MPS/UPS plus SEN Allowance.

You will work with a supportive Wellspring Trust, lead classroom strategies, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing while driving outstanding progress for 3-19 learners.

Qualifications

• Must hold QTS and have successful experience delivering a relevant curriculum to pupils with SEND or complex learning needs.
• Strong knowledge of English, Maths, Science and IT curriculum delivery.
• Excellent behaviour management skills with ability to handle challenging situations with care.
• Experience leading or supporting classroom teams and collaborative work with carers and external agencies.
• Ability to safeguard and promote welfare of vulnerable children and a full UK driving licence is required.

Key Responsibilities

As a Teacher in our special school your key responsibilities will be:

• Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver an engaging, broad and balanced core and thematic curriculum tailored to meet the individual academic, special and personal needs of pupils.
• Specialist Teaching: Employ evidence based instruction and creative pedagogical approaches to accelerate progress and cultivate active, independent learners.
• Behaviour & Well-being: Establish a stimulating, well structured environment using restorative practice and positive behaviour strategies to anticipate, manage and constructively de-escalate challenging behaviours.
• Team Leadership & Collaboration: Direct and deploy classroom support staff effectively to maximise pupil outcome, working alongside multi-disciplinary teams, carers and external agencies.
• Assessment & Progress: Track, evaluate and record pupil attainment systematically, setting meaningful targets and celebrating individual achievements.
• Holistic Support: Support personalised learning packages across various settings, including community, outreach and enrichment activities.

Essential Criteria

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Successful experience delivering a relevant curriculum to pupils with SEND or complex learning needs.
• Secure knowledge of English, Maths, Science and IT curriculum delivery.
• Strong behaviour management skills with the confidence to handle challenging situations with composure and care.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use (including transporting pupils when required).
• Absolute commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children.
